Michael Kightly came through his England U21 debut with flying colours, and earned high praise from manager Stuart Pearce.

Speaking on The FA’s official site Pearce said

‘I was very pleased with Michael Kightly – it was always my plan that he would only play half a game because I also wanted to look at Adam Johnson, but he has proved he is capable of being at this level which is fantastic considering he was playing non-League football only a year ago.’

Michael Kightly’s progress since signing from Grays Athletic has been nothing short of phenomenal, and his list of admirers seemingly grows weekly.

Well done Kights, keep up the good work, and keep flying the flag!
