Despite not playing each other for nearly 18 years in the league, Wolves and Blackpool have met 90 times.
The first ever meeting came in September 1906. A home game for Wolves and a 1-1 draw, later that season Wolves triumphed 2-1 in Blackpool.
Fixtures between the teams came thick and fast over the following years and Wolves hold a decent record at home. The first 10 games saw them win 6, draw 2 and lose 2. The first win came in 1908, a goal from Lloyd getting the points. It was in 1911 that Blackpool claimed their first Molineux win, a 3-0 triumph and they repeated that scoreline in 1920. A year later (1912) and Wolves recorded a 4-0 win, goals from Halligan (2) and Needham (2) securing the points. February 1922 saw that score repeated, Hargreaves (2) Baugh and Richards scoring. Almost a year later and Blackpool won a 7 goal thriller, 2 Fazackerley goals and a strike from Caddick were not enough for the home team.
Between 1927 and 1932 Wolves played host to Blackpool on 4 occasions and Blackpool won the lot, including a 5-1 victory in 1951. The other results saw the away team claim 4-2, 2-1 and 3-2 wins.

Once the league had resumed after World War II, Wolves won 4 of the next 6 games at Molineux v Blackpool. Two 3-0 wins came in that period, the first in 1949, goals from Hancocks, Mullen and Pye securing the win. The 2nd came in 1951, this time a hat trick from Whitfield made it a happy home game for Wolves. Blackpool then bounced back a year later to win 5-2 in an early season tie in September 1952. The following season Wolves returned to winning ways, a Swinbourne hat trick and a Hancocks goal gave them a 4-1 win.
Wolves and Blackpool games were providing plenty of goals, Blackpool came out on top in a 5 goal game in Janaury 1956 and in December of the same year Wolves gained another 4-1 win, Wilshaw hit 3 and Hooper the other. Whilst home wins were coming along nicley, away from home it was a different story. Between 1955 and 1962 7 games were played and Blackpool won 6 of them and the other was a draw. In October 1962 saw Blackpool demolish Wolves 7-2.

Games between the team started to become less and less after 1964, in fact just 8 games since since then have been played, in the league, between the 2 teams. The final 4 homes games have seen Wolves claim wins in all of them. December 1970 and an own goal from Allcock handed Wolves a 1-0 win. It was in March of 1977 the next time Blackpool came to Molineux and Steve Daley and Kenny Hibbit bagged the goals in a 2-1 win. 1986 saw Dean Edwards score in a 1-0 win and then Blackpool’s last league trip to Molineux came on the 25th October 1988, Andy Mutch scored twice as Wolves won 2-1.
The last ever league game came in Blackpool in April 1989, Steve Bull and Nigel Vaughan scored in a 2-0 victory.

The record books show that Wolves have been dominant over Blackpool at Molineux. Will this continue this Saturday? Lets hope so
