Club ‘intend to get their hands on’ Wolves midfielder as replacement for 25 y/o

According to Milan Live, Liverpool are ‘intending to get their hands on’ Ruben Neves as a replacement for Naby Keita. The 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from Anfield after a disappointing injury-hit debut season, and Milan Live say Jurgen Klopp already has a player lined up as his successor.

Neves has been outstanding in a Wolves shirt and has a lot of clubs interested in his signature, but it remains to be seen whether Nuno Espirito Santo would let the Portuguese international leave given his value to the club.

Milan Live say Keita could be loaned out or sold this summer and has interest from Salzburg, AC Milan and RB Leipzig. The Guinean international made only nine Premier League appearances and amassed 368 minutes of top-flight football after spending most of the campaign out injured, so his days on Merseyside may be numbered.

Neves would be an improvement on Keita. The 23-year-old has made 123 appearances in all competitions since joining Wolves from Porto in 2017, scoring 15 goals and making seven assists. This season, Neves has played in every Premier League game (29), created 20 chances, made 21 successful dribbles (87.5%), made 1432 passes and averaged a tackle (45) or interception (42) every 26 minutes.

It’s hard to see Wolves selling one of their best players without lining up a replacement, however, so Liverpool may have to turn their attentions elsewhere.
