Leander Dendoncker was one of many players to come away with praise from supporters after Wolverhampton Wanderers played out a stalemate with Braga. The 24-year-old has operated in midfield for most of the season before Willy Boly’s injury led to Nuno Espirito Santo to use him in a defensive role.
Wolves are missing Boly at the heart of the defence, but they’re still picking up results with Dendoncker alongside Conor Coady and Romain Saïss. The Belgian international has impressed at centre-back this month and has stayed consistent on the European stage.

On the footballing side, Dendoncker was the standout player for me. Coady's reading of the game was superb too and both Jota and Traore had them on the ropes. That ground was hard to build an atmosphere, but we did. @BallyJNR would love the PA guy down our place #wwfc

Dendoncker looks like he’s played centre back all his life, Moutinho is a god and Raul is the best number 9 in years. What a club

Against Braga, Dendoncker played for 90 minutes, made 83 touches, completed 90.4% of his 73 passes, made three interceptions, gave away one foul, made two tackles, picked up a booking and made four clearances.
Up until the hour mark, Wolves were 3-1 up against Braga. They were headed for a win before Paulinho halved the deficit in the 64th minute and Fransergio levelled the game 15 minutes later.
Dendoncker has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal. Thursday’s Europa League clash was his 50th appearance in a Wolves shirt, having spent last season on loan at Molineux. He looks an excellent acquisition.
