Bidding wars again

Kyle Lafferty has given Freddy Eastwood fans everywhere reason to smile.

Remember when Wolves bid for Freddy and following a whistlestop tour he proclaimed ‘As soon as I got here I knew Wolves was the club for me.’, thus halting the bidding war that would have started had he entertained offers from any other club?

Good.

Compare that to Kyle Lafferty’s quote this week.

‘I understand it will be the club who agrees the best deal with Burnley who gets my signature – that may turn out to be Wolves.’

Isn’t there something about players accepting terms with a club? Are we really being told that players have no say in where they transfer to, that he with the biggest wallet will always win?

The whole thing is starting to leave a very nasty taste before it’s even started.

Sure, Burnley want the best price they can get. But If Kyle wants Molineux football so badly, why not just say so. ‘ I want to sign for Wolves.’ not ‘ I’d like to sign for Wolves. Or Rangers. Depends on who bids the most. Not too bothered either way.’

Worked for Freddy Kyle, you might want to start taking notes.
