Mexican international striker Raul Jimenez was one of our key arrivals over the summer as we returned to the Premier League after lifting the Championship title, and the 27-year-old hasn’t disappointed.

Whilst his goal return for a period could’ve been better, few could discount his team ethic and work rate on the pitch for his colleagues and head coach Nuno Espirito Santo and as he continues to adjust to the top flight, the goals and assists have followed for the on loan Benfica man.

With seven assists to his tally in the Premier League, last Saturday’s clash with Watford saw him grab his 13th goal of the league campaign – and he has four more in the FA Cup – but 13 puts him into our history books as he surpasses Steven Fletcher’s previous record of a 12 goal return from back in the 2011/12 season.

Speaking to the Official Website this week to reflect on his achievement, he explained.

“At the beginning of the season I came here to score goals and I’m very proud to now be part of the history of this amazing club. I want to keep doing the same, keep going forward, and keep scoring goals. I was unlucky with my first chance, but this is football. Sometimes it goes inside the goal, sometimes it doesn’t. But fortunately, I had a second chance and I scored.”
