“You can’t see my smile” – Injured man opens up to progress via Instagram

We haven’t heard much from German midfielder Meritan Shabani after he joined the club in the summer transfer window from Bayern Munich.

For the club to snap up someone from such a top side, there obviously comes some expectation – but it hasn’t quite taken off for the 21-year-old this season.

It hasn’t really been his fault, either. After joining in early August and linking up with the U23s he got off to a good start before having a terrible season-ending injury all the way back in late September.

It must’ve been a huge psychological blow for the player after he was dragged off in his first senior appearance for the club with a cruciate ligament rupture in an off-the-ball incident which confirmed he would be out for pretty much the entire season.

Before the injury came around, he had started every Premier League 2 game that season, and was able to add two goals to his account before coming on against Reading in the Third Round of the EFL Cup.

How should the season end?

Try and complete it in the summer

The player has not been able to play since, but it seems as if there is light at the end of the tunnel after he posted a video update on Instagram for his followers.

As Birmingham Live report, Shabani has taken his recovery up a notch and is now running regularly.

The German has been keeping his followers updated with his posts, including one which shows him running around Wolverhampton’s West Park, which can be seen on Birmingham Live’s report.

He also posted an update recently of him lying on one of the pitches saying “you can’t see my smile, but I’m very happy to be back on the pitch”.

Obviously, with the spread of the coronavirus, the player now has a little longer to recover before he is required to play again as there shall be no football until at least April 30 in England.
