19-year-old duo Sam Winnall and Danny Batth will start our Carling Cup fixture against Southend.

McCarthy is set to make numerous changes to the squad for the game, giving run outs to a number of players who have yet to get their chance.

The squad will also include Winnall and Batth who will make their Wolves debut.

‘Danny went to Colchester and had a successful spell with them,’ McCarthy told Sky Sports.

Winnall made 17 appearances in Division one during his loan, while Winnall has yet to make a pro appearance.

Our Mick continued: ‘Sam’s had an excellent pre-season. He missed most of last year after a cruciate ligament operation. He’s got himself back and is looking in really good shape.’

‘It’s their potential and form that’s got them into the game. There could have been a few others, but the reality is it should be a solid base of first-team players and a couple of lads who’ve been showing good form.’

With McCarthy set to make plenty of changes, who do you think will be our starting XI??
