Wolves try to pip Premier League rivals to signing of £6.75m-rated international – report

|

Wolves are set to rival Premier League rivals West Ham United to the signing of Galatasaray defender Christian Luyindama.

The 26-year-old has cropped back into the minds of clubs after he is beginning to return from a nasty torn cruciate ligament injury. There were reports that when the injury occurred in late November, that had scuppered the defender’s chances of getting a move to the Premier League.

Previously, Turkish outlet Sabah reported that a move to Aston Villa in January was then disrupted, but oddly enough, if those reports are true, the injury could have worked out well for the defender with West Ham and Wolves probably looking like better prospects in the long term.

The latest reports come from RTBF, which suggest that Wolves are joining West Ham in wanting to go after the defender, with Takvim reporting the latter.

According to both of these reports, offers of around €15m (£14m) are being prepared for the DR Congo international centre back. Statistics website Transfermarkt value him at £6.75m.fr

No, we can do better

Yes, he looks good for that

Not sure; never heard of him

It is said that Wolves are also big admirers of the defender and could be prepared to make a bid as and when the transfer window is open.

The defender is allegedly back in training following his knee injury, and there are words coming out which suggest that he will be able to feature for the club before the end of the season, should the Super Lig resume.

Looking at his stats, it looks as if Wolves could be getting a very commanding and dominant centre back. Out of the Galatasary squad, no one has won more aerials per game, with him having 4.4 on average – 1.9 higher than his next closest rival in Marcao. Elsewhere, he averages 1.7 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, and 3.8 clearances per game, according to WhoScored.

With Wolves needing some more reinforcements at centre half for the new season, Luyindama could be a great bit of business considering his statistics and price, so if the club can convince him to come, he looks a decent transfer.
