Stephen Ward has earned himself yet another accolade, being picked in The Actim Team Of The Month.

The Irish striker, already the Coca Cola Chapionship PLayer Of The Month is joined by Seyi George Olinfinjana.

The Actim Index is the Official Player Ratings of the Coca-Cola Championship.

The Index ranks players according to their performance both by position and overall. It is calculated using a mathematical formula which has been statistically proven to identify the best players. Each player earns points based on their positive actions during the game (such as shots, saves and tackles), their time on the pitch, the final match result and goals scored.


THE PLAYERS

GOALKEEPER – Paul Henderson ( Leicester City )

The 30-year-old shot stopper was in superb form between the posts during February, helping the Foxes ease their relegation worries and remain unbeaten for the month. During his 480 minutes on the pitch he made 38 saves and kept 3 clean sheets.

DEFENDER – Paul McShane (West Bromwich Albion )

The former Old Trafford starlet has helped the Baggies climb into the automatic promotion places with a string of impressive performances. The 21-year-old also notched an important goal in West Brom`s victory away at Colchester . Actim Stats for February show that McShane has won 12 tackles, made nine clearances, six interceptions and four blocks.

DEFENDER – Nils-Eric Johansson ( Leicester City )

The 6` 2″ Swedish defender has helped Leicester climb the table with some commanding displays in defence. The 27-year-old has completed an impressive 53 passes during his 480 minutes on the pitch last month. The Foxes favourite also managed nine clearances and three blocks as well as claiming an assist.

DEFENDER – Gareth McAuley ( Leicester City )
The Northern Irishman embarked on an impressive scoring spree during February by notching an incredible three goals from defence. The 27-year-old also played his part at the back by making 17 clearances, five interceptions and three blocks.

DEFENDER – Leon Cort ( Crystal Palace )

The Crystal Palace central defender helped the Eagles to three important wins last month with some dominating performances in defence. The 27-year-old also made a name for himself in attack by scoring in back-to-back matches at the start of the month. The former Hull City star made 15 interceptions, 10 clearances and won nine tackles in February.

MIDFIELD – Carlos Edwards ( Sunderland )

The Trinidadian has been in sparkling form for his new club since his January transfer from Luton . During February, the 28-year-old helped the Black Cats into a play-off position by scoring two goals and producing an assist. The Actim Stats also show that the winger completed 77 passes, 16 crosses and nine dribbles.

MIDFIELD – Andrew Surman ( Southampton )

The -versatile winger played an important role for his club last month as the Saints maintained their push for promotion. The 20-year-old produced a ‘ Roy of the Rovers` performance against Barnsley at the St Mary`s Stadium by scoring a hat-trick in Southampton `s 5-2 victory. During his 381 minutes on the pitch last month he completed 41 passes, eight crosses and had three shots on target.

MIDFIELD – Seyi George Olofinjana (Wolves)

The 6` 4″ former Brann midfielder helped Wolves to kick-start their season as they were unbeaten for the whole of February. The highlight of the 26-year-old`s month was scoring the only goal in Wolves` crucial win against promotion hopefuls Preston North End at Deepdale. He also added another goal to his tally against Plymouth as well as winning nine tackles and completing 39 passes during the month.


MIDFIELD – Kevin Maher (Southend United)

The 30-year-old Southend stalwart notched two goals and two assists for the Shrimpers in February. Both of his goals came in a brilliant 5-0 victory over relegation rivals QPR. The Actim Stats for February also show during his 480 minutes on the pitch he completed 61 passes and made 12 crosses.

STRIKER – Diomansy Kamara (West Bromwich Albion )

The French striker hit a terrific run of form in February, scoring three goals (against Hull City , Colchester United and Leicester City ) in five matches. He also had 16 shots and made eight dribbles, nine crosses and 52 passes as West Brom continue to chase promotion to The Premiership.

STRIKER – Stephen Ward ( Wolverhampton Wanderers)

21-year-old Irish striker Stephen Ward has hit the ground running since his transfer to Wolves from Bohemians. Actim Stats reveal that he contributed three goals (scoring against Plymouth Argyle, Burnley and Ipswich Town ), 10 shots, three dribbles, eight crosses, eight interceptions and 39 passes in February.




February`s Actim Index Team of the Month for the Coca-Cola Championship is calculated by measuring performances in the Coca-Cola Championship from 1st February until 28th February 2007.
