While we might have all gone into this season with raised expectations, Kevin Doyle believes we need the fear of a relegation fight to keep Wolves focussed.
Five games down, five points on the board isn’t a bad return, it could be better, it could be worse, but it’s a decent start and we’re placed 15th going into the Aston Villa game.
While many of us hope to build on last season, that fear of second season syndrome has always played in the back of my mind and Doyle believes that fear will benefit us.
“We`re still going to be fighting for our lives, I`m pretty certain of that. It won`t be cosy. It will be difficult.’ Kevin Doyle told the Express & Star.
He added: “We`ll see but, if we relax and think we`re going to be fine because we`ve signed some players, that`s when it will bite us. We need to keep that bit of fear in us and keep playing well.
“We could end up staying where we finished last season because everyone else has strengthened in the Premier League. It doesn`t mean we`re not going to be in the bottom fighting to stay up.
