After welcoming summer Stephen Hunt into the fray after an extended period on the sidelines, Wolves fans were most likely looking forward to seeing another long term absentee in or around the squad sooner rather than later in the form of England Under 21 International Michael Kightly.

Today we woke up to the depressing news that Kites’ is still suffering from his ligament injury that has not shown signs of healing, and as reported by the Express & Star, the flying winger is almost certain to go back under the knife, raising fears he will not feature at all this season.

The nature of the injury sends a sense of great concern through us all with Matt Murray’s depressing retirement all too fresh in the memory.

Michael Kightly made a stunning impact after taking the major leap from non league football and was one of our most instrumental players as we pushed for promotion to the promised land.

We can only hope that the next round of scans and/or surgery do not point in the direction of the miserable fortunes of Matt Murray.

Best regards to Michael as all fingers remain crossed we will have the opportunity to see him terrorizing defenders up and down the country before this season is out.
