Wolves are considering a late move to sign Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, a report from The Evening Standard has claimed.

Doucoure looks set to be a man in demand this summer, following Watford’s relegation from the Premier League last summer, with a number of clubs now seemingly interested in the midfielder.

According to the latest reports, Wolves and newly-promoted Fulham have now taken an interest in Doucoure, joining Everton in the pursuit of the 27-year-old’s signature.

It is thought that the Toffees are currently in pole position to sign the Frenchman given their longer-term interest in the player, although Wolves and Fulham could now present competition to that.

Watford are apparently willing to sell Doucoure this summer, but it will take a £25million bid to prise the midfielder away from Vicarage Road in the next few months.

Despite the fact that he has three years remaining on his contract with Watford, and interest from France, Doucoure is said to be determined to secure himself a place in the Premier League for next season.

This would feel like a big signing for Wolves if they are able to pull it off.

Doucoure has been outstanding for Watford during their time in the Premier League, and so would provide more than reliable cover, and of course competition, for the likes of Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho if he was to make the move to Molineux.

Indeed, securing this deal would also prevent two of Wolves’ top-flight rivals from strengthening their own squads as well, meaning it would be some statement of intent from Nuno’s men, and a seemingly decent move all round.
