Wolverhampton Wanderers have begun talks with Leicester City over the potential signing of striker Chris Wood.

After missing out on Coventry striker Callum Wilson to Bournemouth, Jackett moved his attentions to Hull and Leicester.

The Express & Star linked us with Hull City striker Nick Proschwitz.

27-year-old German Proschwitz joined Hull for ?3.3million in July 2012 from Sport-Club Paderborn 07 signing a three-year-deal.

But following just five league starts (24 league appearances on the bench) he joined Barnsley on loan last season.

In 14 Championship appearances (6 from the bench) he scored 4 goals.

However it was clear that long-term target Chris Wood was Wolves main target, despite Jackett having to wait and be patient for his availability.

Wolves had expected Wood to become surplus to requirements at Leicester City following their promotion to the Premier League and with Leonardo Ulloa making a £8million move from Brighton, it was clear it was only a matter of time before Wolves could make an approach.

That approach came over the weekend and was confirmed by Jackett.

‘We have made enquiries and we are in conversation, but it`s a long way off being sorted.’ he told the Express & Star.

He added: ‘I don’t really want to talk about other team’s players. We have made an approach, but we have got a long way to go in terms of sealing him as a Wolves player.’
