The Greatest Team in English Football History

This is the story of how I became a fan of the greatest team in English football history.

My name`s Erick. I`m 16. Some of you might remember me as the first interviewee of the series of Vital Wolves summer fan interviews.

The peculiar thing about me being a Wolves fan is, I`m Mexican.

How did that happen? Well, as every other Mexican, I love football. I`m also kind of picky, and so, I watch the Premier League, for the best football in the world.

Unlike many other football fans, who are born supporting a team, because of their family, I never really watched football as a kid. In fact, the first team I supported was Chivas de Guadalajara, which is the team “Chicharito” Hernandez came from.

As I grew up and stuff, I became interested in video games, specifically, the FIFA series. I started hearing and learning about teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

While playing one of the FIFA games, I was scrolling through the English League teams, and in the Championship, I noticed a crest that hypnotized me. It was a Black wolf in the middle of an Old Gold hexagon.

The symmetry, the eyes of the Wolf, the contrast of colours were all simply amazing, so I had to pick them in the game.

Soon enough, I started knowing the name of the players, their numbers, and how to manage them correctly.

After doing that for a few years, and not actually watching any game on the telly, I decided to join forums and stuff, to keep up with the team. When I started following Wolves as a real fan, they were about to finish the Championship. I couldn`t have gotten better timing, right? What do I know? After a few games, Wolves win the Championship, and then all I have to do is wait for the summer transfer window.

Since then, Fox Soccer Channel was broadcasting the Premier League here in the United States, so all I had to do was wake up early in the morning, sometimes at about 5AM, to watch the games live.

Sometimes of course, I could not wake up and I`d end up watching the repetition of the game, or reading the reports on the internet.

Our first match in the Premiership starts and what happened? Sylvan injured, we lose 2-0. Way to go, I thought.

Next game was up against Wigan. 1-0, Keogh goal. And so the season passed and at times I feared relegation, at others, I thought we could do big things. At the end of the season, we win 2-1 against Sunderland, who had thrashed us 5-2 earlier during the season.

And now here I sit, in front of my computer, writing about the best team in the world, and reading about the way we dominated Stoke City to win 2-1. Amazing goal by Jones, but it would have been nice to see Ward put that volley in the back of the net.

Great way to start the season, and at least we have 3 points now. We`re 4th place on the table, behind Villa, Blackpool (!!!) and the reigning champions of the Premiership.

If you`re still reading, all I can say is, Fletcher was a great addition to the squad.

Next week I hope to see Doyle alongside him, and hopefully we`ll get some points out of Everton and see the Baggies get thrashed again.

Up the Wolves!

As a side note, don`t forget to join the Vital Wolves Fantasy Football League if you haven`t done so. I`m currently last place, but it`s okay if Wolves won.
