The Forgotten Man

Since the sitter at home to Wigan, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has not started a game. Given fifteen minute cameo’s every now and then, Mick seems to have just forgotten about him.

Last year, he was the best player outside the Premier League. All Wolves fans thought him better than Kevin Doyle and there was even talk of an England call up.

He has one goal this year. From the penalty spot. He was dropped the next game outrageously in my opinion, for the game at Stoke which we drew away.

Did this take all the confidence he had gained the game before, I think so. On a high, he could have started scoring as freely as the year before.

Cech’s world class save, Gomes’ save at Tottenham and the header Brian Jensen unbelievably saved, it all could have been so different.

A change of formation has seen him fall behind Sam Vokes in the pecking order, as Mick obviously feels he can’t play on his own upfront.

Some say the partnership between him and Doyle wouldn’t work. Rubbish. Doyle has the ability to play off some one like Sylvan, as he holds it up brilliantly. Both Doyle and Ebanks-Blake have a natural instinct to play in others and when a chance arises, be there at the right time to score.

So come on Mick, give Sylvan more than fifteen minutes to show what we all know he can do. Or even better, start him on Saturday.
