September Test for Wolves

After the relatively kind start to the season on the fixture list front, September brings a slightly tougher look to it.

An away trip to Fulham has already brought a defeat and that is followed by Spurs away, followed by Aston Villa at home towards the end of the month (who by then should be nicely boosted by the arrival of Gerard Houllier).

Before the Fulham game I would have been happy looking at those three matches with 4 points from them.

Following defeat to Fulham, 4 points from Spurs and Aston Villa now looks difficult.

If achieved, that would put us on 9 points from 6 games before we go into October and the away game at Wigan followed by home match against the Hammers.

Another 4 points from those two games and that would be 13 points going into the ‘monster fixtures’ at the end of October beginning of November.

Looking up until the turn of the year the fixtures look a little easier and I think 23 or 25 points by New Years Day looks a realistic target which wouldn’t be bad looking as 40 points being the safety target.

One maybe two new signings in January and we could be looking good!!!!

That said, it could have been even better!

As I previously mentioned, I think we have had a very easy start on the fixtures and concerning Newcastle, I called them a ‘championship side’ who we should have beaten at home, this has been I think proved with Blackpool having a comfortable 2-0 win at St James park at the weekend.

Can you imagine if we’d have won there what would have been said!!

Fulham was a bad day out and we need to try and get something now from Spurs which isn’t going to be easy.

Up the Wolves!!
