Report: Wolves ‘considering a move’ for 19 y/o, striker’s ‘contract expires’ this summer

According to Sky Sports, Wolverhampton Wanderers are ‘considering a move’ for Danny Loader whose ‘contract expires’ this summer.

The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to Wolves for some time and nearly signed for the Midlands outfit last summer before the deal fell through when Reading pulled the plug.

Wolves look set to return for Loader, however, and may only have to pay a tribunal fee when he becomes a free agent in the coming months.

The 19-year-old rose through the youth ranks to the Reading first-team in 2019 and has gone on to make 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and making one assist.

Wolves have been targeting young strikers under Nuno Espirito Santo – Joe Gelhardt and James Graham among others – and have named 17 players aged 21 and younger in the matchday squad at least once this season. Leonardo Campana (aged 19) and Renan Dadashov (21) have been named in Wolves’ Europa League squad too, so it’s clear Nuno has one eye on the future.

Loader should be interested in joining a side like Wolves as they’d be good for his development – there’s a clear pathway for young players to reach the first-team.
