Record is a bonus for Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers claimed a record ninth straight win at Swindon last night.

The victory seals a club record for a number of games won on the bounce.

Wolves ran away into a 3-0 lead just after the half hour mark last night with goals from Dicko and Sako.

But whilst that should have seen Wolves come away comfortably with the victory, all it did was set Kenny Jackett’s side up for a Jekyll and Mr Hyde performance. As the game ended 4-1.

“It`s a great feeling and a terrific achievement by the players to have achieved a club record,”

“Obviously our main motivation for the season is to get promoted and if a club record comes within that then it`s an added bonus.’ Jackett told the Birmingham Mail.

In the grand scheme of things, records will mean nothing if promotion isn’t achieved at the end of the season.

Nine straight wins means a return of 27 points from a possible 27 and yet, Wolves still only find ourselves 2 points clear of Leyton Orient and 3 clear of Brentford.

Jackett continued: “Looking at the pace of this division we have needed it (record run) because anything short of it would have left us chasing.

“We tried to manage the game but it didn`t work out that way and we rode our luck and at times we were fortunate not to concede more goals. Fair play to Swindon, they came into the game very well and it was a poor performance where we were capable of doing better both attacking and defending.
