According to The Athletic, Wolves players are ‘set to return’ to training on Monday for the resumption of the Premier League season.

There will be ‘physical tests’ planned for the squad as if it was in pre-season, but the biggest issue will be with conditioning as it’s been two months since a ball has been kicked.

The Athletic say the plan is for a ‘week of physical conditioning’, before training commences in small groups a week later. There will still be social distancing enforced, but there are no plans to make the players wear masks.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic caused the season to be postponed, Wolves were sitting sixth in the Premier League with 43 points from 29 games and boasted two wins & three draws from their last five.

The Athletic also spoke about Wolves’ staff still working full-time and being paid in full – nobody will be furloughed. It would be good news for the club’s finances and players if the season is resumed, but it can’t come at the expense of the squad’s health.

In Germany, they’re also planning to resume the season but ten players have tested positive from the top two-tiers. In France, they’ve already ended the campaign early. The Premier League and Football League have a lot to ponder.
