In what was deemed our latest must-win game, Wolves once again stumbled to a defeat.
The loss dumps us back to the bottom of the Premier League table.
In such a tight division, Wolves seem to be going about things completely backwards this season.
Wins against Manchester City and Liverpool should have been unexpected bonus points, but instead they’ve proved crucial in keeping us within touching distance of those above us.
We need the points against those in and around us and yet we’ve now lost to West Ham, Wigan (twice!), Fulham and you could even throw in Aston Villa into the current mix.
(We’ve also lost to Blackpool but with their amazing form I don’t include them in the relegation mix.)
So on to the game itself, Frederic Piquionne’s cross after an hour ended up in the back of the net after a touch from Ronald Zubar.
Wolves unfortunately didn’t find Robert Green in England World Cup form and instead found an in form shot stopper who denied us chance after chance, before Freddie Sears sealed the win in the 79th minute.
‘We are two points from safety and as far as I am aware we are not getting relegated in the morning.’ McCarthy told the BBC after the game.
‘We are scrapping away and we played well enough today, we should have equalised to be honest.
Vital Wolves Comment: Mick concluded: ‘We have to just keep playing the way we have in the last two games without giving goals away.’ Obviously easier said than done, lets hope the cheque book comes out soon to improve our defence.
