Skipper Paul Ince will see a specialist to get his thigh injury sorted out but Glenn Hoddle believes the influential midfielder faces a ‘lengthy spell out’ and said the scan was ‘not good news’.

Ince has only been able to play two games for us this season.

Hoddle said: ‘The player will see a specialist to try and get to the bottom of the problem once and for all. It is hard to say how long he will be out for but it could be the new year before he returns.’

Adding:

‘Paul hasn’t had the best of scans and the result isn’t as good as we’d hoped for. We now need to have a consultation at the end of the week to see what the way forward is. But it’s not good news and he won’t be returning in the near future that’s for sure. We hope he won’t need an operation. There are numerous options we can take and we need to have a consultation to see where we go.’

Makes you wonder if Paul, who is now 38 and had already hinted that he might be close to retiring, might consider calling it a day?
