From The Voice Of A Student…

Having always lived around 2 hours away from Wolverhampton, getting a season ticket has never been feesable. Recently moving to Shropshire, things have changed, and on Saturday, me and my family purchased 3 of the best, situated in J5 of the Steve Bull.

On average, i go to about 15 home games a season, and a handful of away games. Clearly this season will be different, but the price increase is insane!

I would like to start off the arguement by stating that a Student ticket on matchdays is £14 in the Steve Bull. A price i am more than happy to pay! Now if i went to every league home game of the season at £14 a ticket ( £14 x 23 games ), the price would = £322.

The season ticket i have just purchased cost £504. Why? Becuase Wolves don’t offer a Student season ticket! Now this to me sounds odd. I could go to every game, buying on the day, for £322, or pay £504 the exact same thing.

I have had many an arguement with the Wolves ticket office over the last week explaining my points of view, but the answer i get has been the same. ‘We don’t offer student season tickets as students drop out of university all the time, so we can’t give them cheap prices for not going’. Well excuse me but i missed about 3 days last year, so why don’t i qualify!? And that statement from Wolves’ ticket office is surely stereotyping every student for no reason?

We ‘Students’ are the future of Wolves’ fans base, along with the under 17’s, as we will be the ones taking our kids to the stadium, paying adult prices for the rest of our lives. And at the end of the day, we are students. Many can’t justify spending £504 for 23 games of football!

I am quite fortunate in my position, as my family have paid for mine, but this reasoning on behalf of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club, in my opinion, is not on!

Why would i pay for a season ticket then if i can get to every game for £14? Well that my friends is simple. Ask any newly promoted fan without a season ticket, their chances of getting one for the Premiership season. Zilch! Not a chance. And then ask the same person of getting a ticket on matchdays. He/she will tell you that the chances are not in your favour.

Now if i have a season ticket this season and we go up, all i will need to do is renew my seat. Without one, i stand no chance. That is why i NEED one.

Thanks Wolves for ripping me off!
