Fell out with Nuno, 1 goal in 9 apps on loan, club consider U-turn – 22 y/o’s future explained
Patrick Cutrone has an uncertain future this summer after his loan spell away from Wolverhampton Wanderers went downhill.
The 22-year-old struggled for form and playing time at Molineux and was sent back to Italy for 18 months to recapture his form and potentially turn the move permanent if he impressed.
Cutrone hasn’t had the desired impact at Fiorentina, however, so the Violas are considering sending him back early.
The Daily Mail said earlier this month that Cutrone’s time at Wolves was cut short as he didn’t ‘see eye to eye with Nuno Espirito Santo’, which was evident from the 860 minutes of playing time he was given earlier this season.
Cutrone scored three goals and made four assists in 24 appearances in a Wolves shirt, but now he’s completely fired blanks in Italy. He’s netted only one goal in nine games for Fiorentina and failed to score in his seven Serie A outings.
The 22-year-old was meant to stay at the Stadio Artemio Franchi for another year and join permanently at the end of next season, but he may be returning to Wolves sooner than expected. Not an ideal situation for Nuno.
