Reports in the media suggest that Southend have finally admitted defeat in their bid to keep hold of striker Freddy Eastwood, and that he could now seal a switch to Molineux early next week.

The deal, said to involve an initial fee of £1.25m rising to £1.5 marks Mick McCarthy’s first foray into the transfer market since the announcement of Steve Morgan’s friendly take over.

The only question now remaining is how does this effect the proposed signing of Scunthorpe’s Billy Sharp?

With 4 strikers already competing for 2 spots, can Wolves afford the luxury of a fifth?

Or, which now seems likely, can they afford to see him go to a divisional rival?
