Kevin Doyle returned to Wolves training ground at Compton this week, still undecided over a move to Major League Soccer with the Colorado Rapids.

The 31-year-old Republic Of Ireland striker’s contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers expires at the end of the season, but with the forward earning in the region of £40,000-a-week he is unlikely to be in a hurry to write off around £600,000 earnings.

Colorado Rapids have offered him a three-year-deal following talks with Doyle this week.

The MLS transfer window remains open until May, but it is likely that to make the move Doyle and Wolves would have to agree a compensation deal to cancel his contract so that he could sign as a free transfer.

“Kevin has been to Colorado to speak to them for a couple of days and those talks are ongoing.’ Wolves Head Coach Kenny Jackett told the Irish Examiner.

He continued: “We are no nearer knowing whether it will happen or not. Where Kevin is in it and his own family and his own situation I don`t really know. You would have to ask him.”

“Our club, their club and the player himself want the best for themselves so finding common ground is what is going on. If he goes, it will be a permanent deal.”
