“Bags of potential”, “He’ll be a top player” – A lot of fans tip 20 y/o for Wolves’ first-team
Dion Sanderson looks to have a bright future at Wolverhampton Wanderers after progressing from youth level to the fringes of the first-team. As per Transfermarkt, the 20-year-old made 46 appearances for the U18s and 26 appearances for the U23s, and now he’s had a taste of competitive football.
Sanderson was loaned out to Cardiff City in January, made three appearances in all competitions for the Bluebirds and impressed in a short space of time. Wolves are on the hunt for a centre-back this summer and a lot of supporters from We are Wolves believe Sanderson could be a long-term solution.

Paul Woz: “Loan him out but at a good championship level. I think this boy has talent and would come back and challenge for a spot in the back-three.”
Sanderson has made one appearance for Wolves at senior level, playing a full 90 minutes at right-back in October’s EFL Cup win over Aston Villa. Whether there’s a place for him in the first-team next season remains to be seen, however, as Max Kilman and Ryan Bennett could be backup options.
The 20-year-old may be better off going out on loan in 2020/21 so he can get regular football, as his development will be hampered playing in the reserves when he’s already proven himself at senior level. Supporters are tipping him to be a success in the Midlands.
