Bad news for Wolves as 20 y/o admits he could leave “to win titles” in the future

Pedro Neto admitted in a recent interview with O Jogo via Sport Witness that he could leave Wolverhampton Wanderers “to win titles” in the future. The 20-year-old only joined Wolves on a five-year-deal from Lazio last summer, but he enjoyed an impressive first season at Molineux and is already looking ahead.

Neto made 35 appearances in all competitions in his debut season at Wolves, scoring four goals and making four assists. As per WhoScored, the Portuguese U21 international has created 12 chances, completed 82.6% of his 264 passes, won 18% of his aerial duels, made 25 successful dribbles (53%), had 13 shots with 30.7% accuracy and won 13 free-kicks.

Before the season was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Wolves were sitting sixth in the Premier League table with 43 points from 29 games. The Midlands outfit were in the last-16 of the Europa League and drew the away leg of their clash with Olympiacos, setting up a second leg at Molineux.

Despite this, Neto isn’t ruling out leaving Wolves in the near future in his pursuit to win titles. He told O Jogo: “I’m in a big club that already offers me a lot. I want to continue here, but I intend to take the leap. I want to reach top clubs to win titles or compete in the Champions League.

“There is nothing better than competing in the Champions League, the Europa League, the Euros or a World Cup. I want to try everything.” It may be worrying for Wolves to hear Neto being so open about using them as a stepping stone, especially as he admitted in the same interview that he struggled at Lazio.

The 20-year-old added: “It’s true that I spent two difficult years at Lazio, but now, fortunately, I have the opportunity to show my football and I feel that I have improved a lot.” So would it be smarter for Neto to focus on his football at Wolves before looking to move on?
