£22.5m sensation could be closer to Wolves move after reported fall out – report

|

Allan Saint-Maximin has had his future at Newcastle United thrown into doubt, linking the player to the club once more.

According to reports in the Daily Mail, the Frenchman’s future is uncertain due to the player being dropped for the club’s 0-0 draw against Burnley, claiming that the player had picked up a hamstring injury and couldn’t play.

The Mail’s sources ‘insist’ that the 22-year-old is fit and ready for selection, which could ee him playing tonight.

Reports claim that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are joined by Crystal Palace as the side’s who are interested in the tricky winger.

Interestingly enough, both Wolves and Crystal Palace are the only two teams to have a player who averages more dribbles per game than Saint-Maximin, with Adama Traore and Wilfried Zaha both having more, suggesting that he could be seen as a potential replacement for either player.

The Mail story says that Bruce, rather than admit to the player being dropped, was actually just trying to protect him from the press. It’s said the player hasn’t been impressing Bruce with his training performances, and the former Sunderland coach wanted to field a team he could ‘rely on’.

Would Allan Saint-Maximin be a good signing?

No

It goes further to say that a number of players are growing frustrated with the tactics on display, and count themselves as better players than he is making out in the public eye.

Whether this story is genuine or not is hard to tell, but if it is, then it could be potentially great news for Wolves.

At 22, Saint-Maximin is clearly a player for the future and is one which is always exciting for fans.

So far this season, he may have only grabbed two goals and one assist in all competitions, but the threat has been there for everyone to see with his dribbling ability and pace.

Considering the turnaround Adama Traore has had in one season – starting just eight games last campaign compared to 22 thus far – Nuno may feel like he can work his magic on this talent, who is valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt.

He plays predominantly on the other flank to Traore, so even if he wasn’t to leave, there’s potential that they could still play alongside each other.
