Wolves Willing To Speculate £30m On Talented Trio – One Confirmed

|

The rumour mill at Wolverhampton Wanderers has been pretty active over the January transfer window so far, and with a couple of departures, names like Daniel Podence, Leonardo Campana and Nelson Oliveira won’t be new to fans.

With Wolves clearly needing to strengthen to add some depth to our stretched group, there will be plenty of fans who hope moves for the trio come off, but the highlight player would be Olympiakos winger Podence as Sky Sports have claimed this week that the 24-year-old would cost us in the region of £21.5million to secure his services.

Podence already knows goalkeeper Rui Patricio from their spell together at Sporting Lisbon, and joining our Portuguese pack should only help him settle in more quickly and show us what he’s capable of. His versatility in the frontline would also be a bonus for head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

Adding another element upfront would be former Norwich, Nottingham Forest and Reading striker Oliveira, and it’s claimed that AEK Athens are holding out for at least £6million to let him return to the country and given his previous years over here, the 28-year-old should be able to hit the ground running and provide solid backup for Raul Jimenez. Oliveira has found the net nine times in 15 league games so far this year.

Finally, Sky also report that we are close to a deal for Ecuadorian striker Leonardo Campana and they expect a deal to go through imminently with Ecuadorian side Barcelona SC for around £300,000 + add ons, but Campana’s capture is one for the future as the 19-year-old has been earmarked for our Under 23 side.

Campana was announced a short time ago this evening.

I’d imagine fans will be mixed on Oliveira, but Podence sounds right up our street.
