Tongo Doumbia could be included in the Mali squad for the African Cup of Nations.
If selected the 23-year-old £2.5 million summer signing from Rennes would certainly miss four games which fall into the African Cup of Nations tournament dates (January 19 to February 10). But once you add in training camps etc, he could miss around six games.
“It is still up in the air at the moment. We don`t really want him to go but we will see what happens,“ Wolves gaffer Solbakken said to the Birmingham Mail.
He added: ”If he wants to go and he is picked then it is no problem, we must be without him. It is as easy as that, there are international rules for this. In a way I can influence a little bit but I`m not going to twist his arm and this is his country.”
Wolves could end up being well represented in the tournament, Razak Boukari could be named in the Togo team, whilst Bakary Sako could be set to join Doumbia in the Mali squad as they are considering calling him up ahead of the tournament.
