With Wolverhampton Wanderers securing seventh spot in the Premier League with one game remaining in the 2018/19 campaign, it’s been a wonderful return to the top flight under the charge of head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.
With the rumour mill already in full flow ahead of the summer transfer window opening, there have already been plenty of links to the likes of AC Milan striker Andre Silva and Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson to name just two, but there have been plenty of others.
A recent claim from the Mirror implied it could again be a massive summer on the transfer front as we look to build on our successful return to the top tier and see if next season, rather than any second season syndrome complications, we forge on further and try and close the gap on the top six, but if will inevitably mean a few departures.
They state that, depending on how we strengthen, the likelihood is that we’ll look to move Ivan Cavaleiro and Helder Costa on if we attract sensible offers for them, but we will also be looking to move Adama Traore on either permanently, or on a loan spell.
Traore is very much a project signing and Nuno has already moved him around the pitch a bit looking to get the best from him, and there’s been strong talk of trying to develop him through the middle to capitalise on his strengths, so this seems very wide of the mark.
A wouldn’t take a loan off the table if we could find the right club simply to get his starting minutes up, but I’m not alone in doubting sale talk.
Nuno has repeatedly talked about how special Adama is and how much potential he has. He personally handpicked him as a signing from Boro and he’s hardly going to give up after one season.
