Wolverhampton Wanderers ‘will be without’ Ruben Vinagre against Liverpool, reports BBC Sport. The 20-year-old has been out of action with a hamstring injury, causing him to miss Wolves’ 3-2 win over Southampton (January 18), and won’t return in time to face the Premier League leaders.

Vinagre has made 23 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals. His last outing came in Wolves’ FA Cup defeat to Manchester United (January 15). Nuno Espirito Santo is likely to start Jonny Otto at left-back in Vinagre’s stead, having given the 25-year-old the nod against Southampton.

Vinagre could be out of action for some time. He recently gave an update on social media, thanking fans for their words of support and saying he’s focused on his recovery, so it doesn’t sound like a return is coming any time soon. Wolves haven’t revealed how long the left-back will be out for, however.

Nuno could call upon Max Kilman and Matt Doherty to operate in a makeshift role if Jonny was unavailable, but Wolves will have the luxury of starting with the same backline from Saturday’s win over the Saints.
