With only one game remaining in the 2018/19 Premier League campaign, Wolverhampton Wanderers already know that we are set for top flight life next campaign and we could even have a European adventure depending on the FA Cup final given we are guaranteed seventh place. It does of course mean the rumour mill will crank into a higher gear and links to Barnsley goalkeeper Adam Davies has come from left field this week.

The Yorkshire Post claimed this week that Wolves have joined Stoke City, Birmingham City, Hull City, Bristol City and Brentford in stepping up our interest in his potential signing this summer.

The 26-year-old 6ft 1in stopper was named in the Professional Footballers’ Association’s League One Team of the Season recently, and he is a newly capped Welsh international, featuring for them in the March international break clash with Trinidad and Tobago.

I can only presume if we do make a move for him, it would be as a replacement for John Ruddy given the difference in ages as it’s certainly not a link that would imply we’re looking to change Rui Patricio.

Then again with so many clubs linked in the report, it does seem standard rumour mill fodder where it’s likely nothing at all will come of it.
