It’s a new week so it must mean it’s time for a new name on the Wolverhampton Wanderers summer transfer rumour mill and on Monday it came in the shape of Lazio defender Wallace, although those with long memories will know he’s not entirely a fresh name.

The 24-year-old has impressed at Lazio it seems following his arrival in 2016, but he did find game time limited in 2018/19 as he only made 16 Serie A appearances as they finish eighth in the table.

Italian daily Il Messaggero via Inside Futbol have claimed that we are in discussions to secure a season long loan deal for the player, but it will naturally be with an eye to a permanent transfer next summer.

Jorge Mendes gets the obligatory mention as apparently, Wallace is his client, and they even name a 1million Euro loan fee, with the permanent purchase being set at 6million Euros – so unlike most speculation at this time of year, there are some real details here.

Fans should bear in mind however that Wallace is only new to the rumour mill this summer, last January he was linked, and prior to that also last summer and nothing has obviously ever come of it.

The difference is the more definitive nature of the claims this time around rather than being vague.
