Wolverhampton Wanderers’ little Portuguese wizard – well not that little really – Ruben Neves stole the show on Saturday as we opened up our 2018/19 return to the Premier League and took a point from Everton.

Welcoming Marco Silva’s side to the Molineux for the big kick-off, the match ended with two goals apiece as Neves was joined on the scoresheet by Raul Jimenez as they both got their campaigns off to a flyer.

Whoscored have our 21-year-old as the highest rated player from the game with a rating score of 8.32.

He helped himself to the goal obviously in the first half of the game and in the second period he added an assist to his tally as he set up Jimenez. With three shots, a pass accuracy of 83.9% and a whopping 111 touches across the game it’s no surprise to see him fair so well in their algorithms.

With Richarlison’s reported £50million total fee and him getting a brace on the day, they only rated him at 8.26 given his overall contribution to Everton on the day, so just how valuable is Neves in the current market?

Hopefully, that’s a question our Board won’t have to ask themselves for a long time.
