Wolverhampton Wanderers’ left-back Jonny Castro Otto continues to go from strength to strength following his summer arrival on a loan spell from Atletico Madrid and he’s aptly demonstrated he can play on the right as well.
As he continues to adjust to a new club and a new country, the 24-year-old has already been hugely impressive in his nine games for us so far in the season of 2018/19 and his form saw him rewarded with a first call-up to the Spanish squad for the October international break.
He wasn’t in the squad just to make up the numbers and he made his maiden country bow as a substitute in their game last week against Wales – securing a 4-1 victory in the process over Ryan Giggs’ side.
Jonny came onto the pitch in the second half of the match in the 63rd minute, replacing Azpilicueta, and he did show both sides of his game, putting in a good tackle against Sam Vokes to stop an almost certain goal, and on an attacking front, he showed his range of passing as well.
Playing RWB, looked exceptionally good.

Jonny Otto looked confident for his first ever international match at senior level. Was very calm and composed on the ball. But if I’m being completely honest, I don’t see him starting in official games especially when you have Carvajal, S.Roberto and Odriozola available.

Jonny very impressive in his 30 minute debut cameo tonight for Spain. Broke up play, didn’t misplace a single pass, pushed forward, and even set up a goal (albeit offside) with an exquisite through ball… all that from right back, a position he’s not played in all season!

As the above comments show, it wasn’t just Wolves fans who were happy and delighted for him, he has quickly started winning over his nations followers as well.
The first cap of many more to come you would imagine.
