Wolves make ‘approach’ for €25m defender with more interceptions than Boly and Saiss

|

According to Record via Sport Witness, Wolverhampton Wanderers have made an ‘approach’ for Jean-Clair Todibo and may have to battle Benfica, Everton and Fenerbahce to procure his signature. The 20-year-old is on the periphery at Barcelona and is expected to leave this summer, but it remains to be seen where he’ll end up given all the interest.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Wolves have Willy Boly, Romain Saiss, Conor Coady, Max Kilman, Ryan Bennett, Roderick Miranda and Dion Sanderson on the books, but Kilman isn’t likely to be a regular, Bennett could be sold this summer, Miranda is surplus to requirements and Sanderson is likely to be loaned out next season. That leaves a void at centre-back for a new face to fill.

The Old Gold have been linked with Kristoffer Ajer, Gabriel Magalhaes, Christian Luyindama, Ousseynou Ba, Tosin Adarabioyo, Ruben Dias, Diego Llorente, Nicolas N’Koulou and Robin Koch, but Todibo may be more attainable. He’s made only five appearances for Barca since his move from Toulouse in 2019 and was loaned out to Schalke 04 earlier this season, so it’s clear the Catalans don’t want or need him.

As per WhoScored, Todibo has made 1.9 interceptions per game for Schalke, which is more than Boly (1.7) or Saiss (1.6), so he could be a good addition.
