The latest transfer link to hit Wolverhampton Wanderers ticks all the boxes that you can imagine that should get fans reasonably excited about the capture.

His name is Pepe and he used to play for Real Madrid. He’s won multiple awards in his career, including the 2016 European Championships.

The 35-year-old left the Santiago Bernabeu back in the summer of 2017 and he signed for Turkish giants Besiktas but they seem to be having financial problems, so it’s been agreed to terminate his deal by mutual consent and I’m not sure the ink was dry before Portuguese outfit Record managed to link him to us.

Pepe has form with Wolves, as he was heavily linked by the online tabloids with us last summer – based on nothing more than he shares a nationality with Jorge Mendes – Besiktas even released an official statement rubbishing the reports. So it’s perfectly understandable as to why he’s again easy ‘content’ again now he is a free agent.

Clearly, there’s a difference between the Turkish league and the Premier League but this season he made 17 appearances, scoring five goals, so you could argue he has a role to play until at least the summer.

That’s if you put any stock in the recent claims at any rate and I’d rather not given his behaviour on the pitch and you only have to look at the World Cup to see he regularly gets seriously assaulted by stray gusts of wind.
