It’s been reported this week that Wolverhampton Wanderers are hoping to convince soon to be out of contract Atletico Madrid left back Filipe Luis to make the switch to England ahead of the coming 2019/20 Premier League campaign.

The original report seems to stem from Goal here but they do state that the Brazilian former Chelsea player prefers to actually stay in Spain and he’s hoping he receives a contract extension, despite us and Paris Saint-Germain making our interest known.

The 33-year-old is, rather predictably, said to be a client of super agent Jorge Mendes and he also has good ties to Atleti, so the report naturally leans on the influence that he could have, and that we’ve asked him to do the usual word in the ear routine.

I’m not so sure on this one myself as Jonny Castro is surely first choice given we splashed a reported £15million on him last January, and then there’s Ruben Vinagre’s pathway through to consider.
