Wolverhampton Wanderers may have been fully focused on taking a historic European victory over FC Pyunik earlier this evening but staff back in England did manage to secure us a deadline day signing – and a short time ago it was announced as Bayern Munich midfielder Meritan Shebani.

Having come through the German giant’s youth setup, the 20-year-old made his way into their first team, making his debut back in April 2018 in a game against Eintracht Frankfurt, and he appeared against the same side a season later. He leaves Bayern with three appearances in total, but he’s very much a signing for the future and he immediately goes into Rob Edwards’ Under 23 group following the signing of a three year deal at the Molineux.

Speaking about his capture, Sporting Director Kevin Thelwell told the Official Website that he had been a long term target for us.

“He’s a player we’ve been watching for a long time. He’s been playing for Bayern Munich’s younger teams for a while and our scouting teams have been watching him regularly. He’s a really talented individual, who is very excited. He has huge potential to assist and score goals, and very pleasing on the eye in terms of his movement. When we met him for the first time, we knew he was going to fit right in, he’s very humble, a very hard-working kid and we’re glad to have him in the building as a Wolves player. He’ll start with Rob Edwards in the under-23s, but as we know here at Wolves, Nuno is keen to work with talented young players, and they get the opportunity to train with the first-team regularly.”

We’ll have to see how quickly he can settle and maybe work himself into head coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s first team plans.
