Wolves will not be signing Angers defender Rayan Ait-Nouri, a report from French outlet Le 1o Sport has claimed.

It was recently reported that the Midlands club are battling Spanish giants Barcelona and German outfit Bayer Leverkusen for the signing of the 19-year-old, although it now appears that a move to Molineux for the teenager may not be happening.

According to the latest reports, Nouri has turned down the chance of a move to Molineux, as well as the opportunity to move to Germany with Bayer Leverkusen as well.

The signing of Nouri would have apparently cost Wolves £18million, and while a switch to the Premier League appears unlikely, it still seems as though the teenager could be on the move this summer.

Angers coach Stephan Moulin has apparently claimed that he expects Nouri to leave the club before the window closes next week, with Atletico Madrid and Valencia now said to have joined the race for the defender.

Given the potential that Nouri has already shown in establishing himself in Angers’ senior side at such a young age, and the amount of interest he is attracting, missing out on the defender will likely be some source of disappointment for Wolves.

However, Nuno’s side do at least have plenty of other options to turn to at left-back at this moment in time, meaning they do at least have the resource to cope without the teenager.

It is also worth nothing that this would not have been a particularly cheap deal for Wolves to complete given that reported asking price, so they are at least avoiding taking something of a financial risk in spending big on such an inexperienced player.
