There’s a new name on the rumour mill for Wolverhampton Wanderers fans to mull over this week – French Under 19 international midfielder Pape Gueye who plays for Ligue 2 side Le Harve.

According to a report from outlet L’Equipe the 20-year-old youngster is stalling on a decision to sign a new deal with his current club, despite it being on the table for him.

If a new deal isn’t signed, the expectation is the division two club will cash in on him over the summer, presumably as there’s only a year left on his existing deal, and the French press believe that if that happens, Wolves would be one of a number of clubs that may take a gamble on him.

In our case, the potential for European football would be a feather in our cap. West Ham, Watford and Leicester City are named checked in the report as being other potential suitors.

There’s not an awful lot of information out there that I can find, but Whoscored only credit him with seven starts in the 2018/19 campaign, with four showings from the substitutes bench, so for a French Ligue 2 club, I’m not sure how highly rated he actually is with game time like that – it may be injury related though as he’s had a good run through April.
