Wolves confirm player has secured fresh loan exit

|

Wolves midfielder Conor Ronan has signed a new contract and joined Grasshoppers Zurich on loan, the Premier League club have confirmed.

A graduate of the club’s academy, Ronan has made 14 appearances in total for Wolves’ senior side, and has already spent time out on loan with the likes of Portsmouth, Walsall and Blackpool, as well as Slovakian side Dunajska Streda.

Now, Ronan is set to spend yet more time away from Molineux, with the club’s latest update revealing that the midfielder has now made the move to Grasshoppers on a season-long loan, with fellow Wolves man Renat Dadashov also making that same move.

Ronan has also put pen to paper on a deal secures his future with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side until the end of the 2023/24 season.

Last season, Grasshoppers finished third in the Swiss second-tier, missing out on promotion/relegation play-off place by just three points.

The club’s new league season will get underway on Friday evening, when they host Winterthur, having opened their campaign with a 2-1 cup win at Challenge League rivals Lausanne-Ouchy last weekend.

In some ways, it makes sense for Ronan to make this loan move, given it will give him the opportunity to play first team football that he would seemingly be unlikely to get at Wolves.

However, at 22-years-old, you feel the midfielder is now approaching a stage of his career where he needs to be establishing himself at one particular club, rather then moving about on several different loan moves, so he can take his game to the next level.

With that in mind, this feels like a big season for Ronan as he looks to prove he can do that, and give him the chance to force his way into Nuno’s thinking when he returns next summer.
