Wolves Confirm First Fixture Change Of The Year, But With The Fans In Mind

|

The ink has barely dried on the paperwork following the announcement of the Premier League fixtures for the 2019/20 campaign but despite not yet being out of the month of June, Wolverhampton Wanderers have now confirmed the first fixture change of the season and ironically it’s our season opener against Leicester City.

Originally set for Saturday August 10th, the game has now been moved to the Sunday 2pm slot, but unlike changes normally being at the behest of the broadcasting companies as they focus on the £’s and not the fans, this switch has been made in advance owing to our potential involvement in the third qualifying round of the Europa League tournament given our involvement in that this year after our seventh placed finish in our first year back in the top flight.

Should we be involved in the third qualifying round, and progress past Crusaders or B36 Torshavn, it’s expected we’ll be playing on August 8 and Wolves asked Leicester and the Premier League for a decision in advance so fans had more time to make arrangements.

Otherwise, fans would only get an eight day lead up to the fixture moving.

Good move by the club in my humble.
