Wolves have captured 22-year-old Mali international midfielder Tongo Doumbia on loan from Rennes.
The loan is for the whole of the 2012/13 Championship season with a view to a permanent move in 12 months time.
Wolves gaffer Ståle Solbakken completed the signing over the weekend with the midfielder completing a medical on Friday.
“I am delighted we have managed to sign Tongo who will bring some more quality to the squad,” Wolves boss Ståle Solbakken told Wolves Official Website.
Speaking about the type of player he is he continued: “He is a box-to-box player who can operate in that central role defensively and offensively and as well as being physically strong he is also good in possession.’
Born in France Doumbia signed for LB Châteauroux as a 17-year-old, he spent two years there before moving to Rennes in 2009 and so will obviously have to adjust to life in England.
But he’s certainly started off life at Molineux in the right manner, saying all the right things as Wolves unveiled our third signing of the summer.
“I am really looking forward to playing for the fans and the manager, I want to help the team as much as I can as we aim for promotion.’ Doumbia said in his interview on the official site.
