We might still see some moves at Molineux today, as the transfer window prepares to slam shut at 11pm.

(Why does it always slam shut? Why can no-one ever close it slowly and politely?

Not many Wolves fans would have expected many dealings today, traditionally under Mick McCarthy we tend to get our business done early and get things settled before the season starts.

This year was no exception with Roger Johnson being brought in during pre-season.

But it would seem that Wolves are ready to take advantage, if the opportunity to sign the right player emerges.

With various moves expected to be completed up and down the country (and indeed around Europe), you never know who might become available and Wolves are ready to strike.

“We`re keeping a watching brief – there might be a loan signing. If we find the right player then we will do everything we can to help Mick sign him.’ Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey told the Express & Star.

He added: “We have allowed a lot of players to go, mostly on loan. But that`s what we wanted to do because we were carrying a lot of players who didn`t play for us last season.

“So we`re comfortable with where we are.”
