The latest Wolves news in a handy bite size chunk!
“I`m delighted and come back feeling good and ready for the challenges ahead,” Chris Iwelumo said to Express & Star after returning from a loan spell at Bristol City. The big striker was replaced at City by another Wolves striker in the form of Stefan Maierhofer.
Maierhofer has been reported as saying that Mick McCarthy and Wolves have: “taking the p*** out of me.”
The alleged rant also included an attack on Kevin Doyle: “I don`t have a clue why I`ve not been in the team. I work hard in training, yet others get to play, Why have Wolves signed me only to not use me? Kevin Doyle cost £6.5m, so he has to play. Yet he has just got six goals in 25 games, which is not a great deal.’
Wolves will now conduct an investigation to see if the comments were true or fabricated in some way.
“Of course we have spoken to Stefan and his agent, we have seen a basis of an interview he gave abroad and translated that, but can`t find anything that actually corroborates what is being reported.
“We have spoken to all sorts of people and we can`t see where anyone has said this.’ Moxey told the Express & Star.
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has also been discussing the success of this seasons early bird scheme.
Wolves season ticket Early Bird scheme is down 3% on last year, which equates to 71% of current season ticket holders already renewing for next season, despite not knowing what division we will be in.
“We`re all hopeful we`ll retain our Premier League status and that would mean those fans who have renewed their season tickets will again enjoy top flight football at Championship prices.’ Wolves chief executive Jez told the Express & Star.
