Earlier this morning it was being reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers had now agreed a fee for Monaco’s Portuguese international Joao Moutinho.

It’s not the first time the rumour mill has linked us with the 31-year-old this summer and Sky Sports today claimed that they understood we have struck a deal with Monaco for £5million. Moutinho’s agent is obviously Jorge Mendes and that drove the speculation really, but it appears he will now sign a two-year deal at the Molineux and become our latest capture.

Moutinho is hugely experienced and his career has seen him play for Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto and Monaco and he has represented Portugal at every age group from Under 17 through to their senior setup. He would come in with over 600 club appearances to his name and more than 100 of those have come in European competition – Champions League or Europa League – and on an international front he is the third most capped player in their history with 113 games to his name, and he was a European Championship winner back in 2016 and part of their squad for this summer’s World Cup.

With Nuno Espirito Santo, Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves, Ruben Vinagre and Rui Patricio already with us, settling in shouldn’t be a problem as he would already know some very familiar faces.

The only thing not in the report is a timescale when it comes to when this deal is expected to be confirmed.
