With the summer transfer rumour mill in full flow, Wolverhampton Wanderers have already been linked with effectively every man and their dog in the professional game, and a recent report suggests that we continue to play for the future and may be tempted into taking a gamble on Carlisle United winger Liam McCarron.

The Daily Mail have reported at the weekend that we are tracking the 18-year-old but we are simply namechecked alongside the likes of Derby County, Leeds United and Sheffield United and no other details are given.

The youngster had his breakthrough season in the campaign of 2018/19, making four starting appearances and a further 16 showings from the substitutes bench across all competitions, so if we do have an interest it’s very much with the tag one for the future – but we’ve continued to strengthen our Under 23 setup in recent seasons, so if £250,000 as claimed would be the fee, well, it’s certainly not beyond us as a gamble.
